Breaking Ground: Rev Stephen Wengam Embarks on Historic Mission to The Gambia

Rev Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, is leading a historic mission to The Gambia, marking the first time the entire Executive Presbytery officers of the church have visited the country. The week-long apostolic and missions visit, which began with a warm reception at the airport in Banjul, will see Rev Wengam and his team visit various branches of the church in The Gambia.

A Decades-Long Partnership Deepens

The Gambia Assemblies of God is the first mission field of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, with roots dating back to the late General Superintendent, Rev Simon Asore, who started the church in The Gambia about three decades ago. The pioneer National Head of the The Gambia church is Rev (Rtd) Jerry Adjorlolo, with missionaries from the USA Assemblies of God and Brazil currently working alongside the Ghana Assemblies of God Mission in The Gambia.

A Week of High-Level Engagement

Rev Wengam and his team, which includes Rev Godwin Tito Agyei- Assistant General Superintendent, Rev Ernest Birikorang-General Secretary, Rev Simon Abu Baba- General Treasurer, and Rev Dr Freeman Osei-Tete- Head of Operations at the Headquarters of Assemblies of God, Ghana, will engage in a series of high-level activities. These include speaking at the National Pastors and Leaders Conference, ordaining and credentialing pastors, dedicating a new temple, and holding a strategic meeting with the national leadership of The Gambia Assemblies of God.

Strengthening Mission Work

The National Head of The Gambia Assemblies of God Mission, Rev Paul Ampofo Williams, expressed his joy at the historic visit, saying, "It will strengthen and advance the mission work in The Gambia." This visit marks a significant milestone in the partnership between the Assemblies of God, Ghana, and The Gambia Assemblies of God, with the potential to deepen the impact of their mission work in the country.
