Seven illegal miners are dead after a mining pit collapsed at Manso Keniago in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region.

The earth gave way without warning at the informal work site, burying the miners beneath heavy soil and mud. Emergency workers and local residents moved to the scene immediately to search for survivors trapped under the collapse.
