An 88th-minute goal at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa silenced the home supporters on Sunday afternoon.

TP Mazembe, the five-time African champions from the Democratic Republic of Congo, secured a first-leg victory in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

The defeat left Medeama Sporting Club facing a deficit in the qualification tie. Medeama head coach Ibrahim Tanko admitted his disappointment after the match, but insisted his team remains capable of reversing the result.

Medeama controlled large portions of the match in Tarkwa and created several scoring opportunities across both halves. The Ghanaian club failed to convert those chances in front of goal, allowing the visiting side to stay level deep into the second half.
