Deputy finance minister cuts sod for Somanya-Dodowa road construction

Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Ampem Nyarko officially cut the sod for the Somanya to Dodowa road project. The formal ceremony signaled the start of construction work along the transit corridor, designed to improve transport links and stimulate economic growth in Yilo Krobo.
The road connects Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region with Somanya in the Eastern Region. Drivers along this stretch move daily between major trade routes and rural agricultural communities.
In Yilo Krobo, local commerce relies heavily on highway connections to move goods in and out of the municipality. Farmers, market women, and commercial drivers routinely drive the route to carry fresh agricultural produce toward distribution centers in Accra and Tema.
Heavy dust during dry periods and deep mud during the rainy season regularly slow down transit along unpaved stretches. Vehicles suffer continuous mechanical wear
