New anti-human trafficking unit office inaugurated in Western North
The Western North Region has acquired its first office for the Ghana Police Service’s Anti-Human Trafficking Unit.
The operational base establishes dedicated law enforcement infrastructure in the region to counter human trafficking, child labour, and exploitation.
Ghana created the Western North Region alongside five other administrative regions following a national referendum in December 2018.
The territory was carved out of the original Western Region and established its administrative capital at Sefwi Wiawso.
The region produces cocoa, timber, and cash crops, while also hosting formal and informal gold mining operations.
