Social Protection Minister takes Community Dialogue series to Chorkor in Accra

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection took the government's Community Dialogue series to Chorkor, a coastal fishing neighborhood in Accra. She spoke directly to local residents, community leaders, and local representatives gathered to address systemic social pressures affecting the area.

According to her, many individuals, households, and communities continue to face poverty and vulnerability alongside challenges such as gender-based violence, child labour, rape, human trafficking, among other issues.

Chorkor sits along the Gulf of Guinea in the Ablekuma South constituency of Accra. The neighborhood relies heavily on the artisanal fishing industry, where families work in fish smoking, processing, and distribution.
