Government adds 71,000 senior high school places through private school partnership

Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu announced that the government has created approximately 71,000 secondary school places by partnering with private institutions across Ghana.

The decision allows private senior high schools to admit graduates of the Basic Education Certificate Examination directly into their classrooms.

Speaking on JoyNews' weekly program Newsfile on Saturday, Iddrisu stated that the new capacity resulted from administrative policy changes rather than physical infrastructure inherited from the previous New Patriotic Party administration.

The announcement addresses growing public frustration surrounding the automated Computerised School Selection and Placement System.

Thousands of parents and students across the country continue to encounter delays and placement disputes following the release of basic education examination results.

Iddrisu directly rejected claims that the government was relying on educational infrastructure built by political rivals.
