BRICS leaders express concern over Middle East conflict and urge restraint

Leaders from the BRICS group of emerging economies met in New Delhi on Saturday to address escalating security crises and challenge Western dominance in international policy.

The bloc formally expressed concern over rising tensions across the Middle East. The statement targeted both the deteriorating security environment in the region and the growing application of unilateral economic measures by Western governments.

In their joint declaration, the leaders explicitly condemned the use of sanctions that lack authorization from the United Nations.

Unilateral sanctions have increasingly become a primary tool for Western powers attempting to penalize sovereign nations outside the framework of the UN Security Council. The BRICS representatives said such measures bypass international law, disrupt global trade, and disproportionately affect developing economies.

The Saturday meeting in India forms part of an ongoing effort by the alliance to establish a multipolar international order.
