The University of Ghana returned from the 12th Federation of African University Sports (FASU) Games in Cairo, Egypt, with 23 medals. Ten were gold. The haul nearly doubled the 16 medals the university collected at the 2022 edition in Nairobi, Kenya.
In Nairobi, Ghana's total broke down as four gold, three silver and three bronze in athletics, plus four silver and three bronze in racket games. That tally came from three disciplines. Cairo produced 10 gold, eight silver and five bronze across athletics, badminton and tennis.
The men's athletics team carried the heaviest load. Gold medals came in the long jump, 110m hurdles, 400m, 4x100m relay, 400m hurdles and 4x400m relay. Six events, six golds.
