Pilot warned Amazon cargo plane going too fast before deadly crash, data shows

One pilot onboard an Amazon cargo plane that crashed in Miami, Florida, on Sunday warned the other multiple times about excessive speed before the aircraft overshot a runway, struck vehicles, and caught fire, new flight data shows.

The investigation update from the US National Transportation Safety Board stated that one pilot warned the other in the cockpit repeatedly about the aircraft's excessive speed. The report noted there was not a consistent verbal response from the receiving pilot, even as an altitude alarm sounded inside the flight deck.

The aircraft, a Boeing 767-300 operating as Amazon Prime Air Flight 7598, recorded a landing speed of 158 knots, or 292 kilometers per hour. Aviation experts noted that speed was on the high end for an approach.
