Bono East minister orders Techiman MCE to occupy abandoned official residence by December

A government house in Techiman has sat completely empty for seven years while public money poured into its maintenance. Now, the Bono East minister told the Techiman Municipal Chief Executive to move into the abandoned official residence by December.

The directive targets a structure that has drawn increasing scrutiny from local residents and public finance monitors. Official records show the residence remained unoccupied since 2017, despite substantial public funds spent on renovation work.

State allocations covered structural repairs, interior upgrades, and routine upkeep over the seven-year stretch. Yet the municipal chief executive chose to live elsewhere, leaving the renovated facility unused.

Techiman is the administrative capital of the Bono East Region. The town sits at a major commercial intersection in central Ghana, operating as a primary agricultural trading hub for the country.
