Christian Council forms committee to determine future of National Cathedral

The Christian Council of Ghana formed a technical committee to evaluate the future of the stalled National Cathedral project in Accra. The decision brings religious leadership directly into the effort to salvage a site that sat unfinished amidst widespread public debate.

The committee will examine options to revive construction. Members will review the current state of the project and attempt to chart a practical path forward for the venue.

The National Cathedral project was originally announced as an interdenominational sacred space for Ghana. Architect Sir David Adjaye designed the complex, which was planned to include a main five-thousand-seat auditorium, chapels, a music school, a bible museum, and public gardens.
