Accra lawyer Martin Kpebu proposed that Supreme Court judge Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie fill the vacant seat on Ghana's Council of State reserved for a former Chief Justice after he retires in December 2026.

The seat became vacant following the resignation of former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo from the government advisory body.

Kpebu spoke on the delay in filling the position created by Akuffo's departure, identifying Baffoe-Bonnie as a candidate for the constitutional post.
