Ghana minority demands probe into drug seizures worth over 1 billion dollars

A tipper truck stopped at Pedu Junction in Cape Coast carried more than 3.3 tonnes of cocaine concealed beneath a layer of ordinary sand. The consignment was travelling along the coastal highway from Takoradi to Accra on March 4, 2025. It had an estimated street value exceeding 350 million dollars.

More than a year after the interception, law enforcement officials have prosecuted only the driver, a housemaid, and a handful of peripheral suspects. All of them remain on bail. The financiers and high-level dealers who funded the shipment remain unidentified.
